Vidauban has now completed its full restoration of the course. The greens have improved dramatically with the percentage of bentgrass now at about 80%. This was helped by a record hot summer with more than 50 days in a row of over 35 degrees Celsius. This, however, did not help with the seeding of the Fescue and MJ Abbott returned in October to finish the seeding. Colas have installed a fantastic new path system around the course which makes life easier for the maintenance as well as the players.
The members are eagerly awaiting Springtime when all 18 holes will be open in time for the season. Stephen Byrne, Course Manager and his team have over seeded and top-dressed the fairways meaning an incredible 12,000 tonnes of sand and gravel were applied to different parts of the course this year. The topdressing programme shall continue but thankfully the fairways are completely dry and can be cut 24 hours after having more than 100mm of rain. Turfgrass would like to especially thank Mike Heath, Project Manager of MJ Abbott for his dedicated work on this project, Richard Sorrell, CEO and Stephen Byrne for overseeing the grow-in and maintenance.
