A destination links course, guided by nature
Brittas Bay Club is being redeveloped as a pure links golf course set within the natural dune system of Ireland’s east coast, delivering an authentic coastal golf experience defined by firm, fast playing conditions and long-term sustainability. Working in close collaboration with architect Kyle Phillips, Turfgrass® is acting as owner’s representative, project manager and agronomic lead, guiding the project from early design through construction and grow-in.
Turfgrass® has developed a site-specific agronomy and golf course construction strategy based on detailed laboratory testing, environmental analysis and sustainable land-use principles. Comprehensive testing of native dune sands allows all materials to be reused on site, preserving natural drainage performance while eliminating the need for imported construction materials. Fine fescue turf systems have been selected to deliver resilient, low-input playing surfaces ideally suited to true links golf.
The redevelopment also includes the enhancement of indigenous marram grass, reinforcing dune stability, protecting the coastal ecosystem and strengthening the traditional links aesthetic. Every phase of the project is informed by data-led agronomic planning, quality control and environmental stewardship.
The result is a sustainable links golf course shaped by its landscape, engineered for long-term performance and designed to improve with age, establishing Brittas Bay Club as a benchmark for modern links golf development in Ireland and beyond.
