Guiding a new championship course to peak performance
Basingstoke Golf Club has partnered with Turfgrass® to provide specialist agronomy consultancy and interim course management support as the club establishes its newly developed course in north Hampshire. One of England’s most ambitious recent golf projects, the club relocated to Dummer in 2021 and has since completed a £20 million redevelopment, including the opening of an 18-hole championship downland course.
Working closely with course manager and the greenkeeping team, Turfgrass® is focusing on improving turf performance and surface consistency across greens, tees and fairways, with particular emphasis on Creeping Bentgrass management and long-term agronomic outcomes.
The scope of work includes routine agronomic consultancy, a full review of the Bentgrass programme and short-term on-site course management support. Data-led decision-making and sustainable turf practices underpin the partnership, helping ensure the course matures successfully and delivers high-quality playing conditions for members and visitors.
Alongside the new championship course, the development includes enhanced practice facilities, reinforcing Basingstoke’s position as a forward-thinking club investing in long-term performance and member experience.
