Guiding a landmark Jack Nicklaus course through renewal and recovery
Elk River Club, home to Jack Nicklaus’ first Signature Golf Course in North Carolina, is one of the country’s most distinguished private mountain clubs. Turfgrass® partnered with Elk River during a pivotal phase to deliver hands-on golf course agronomy, conditioning leadership and operational support.
Led by Brad Owen, former Senior Director of Agronomy at Augusta National Golf Club, and supported by Turfgrass®’s U.S. team under John Lawrence, the project provided daily agronomic guidance, turfgrass development, long-term planning and leadership mentoring.
At 3,500 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Elk River delivers one of America’s finest mountain golf experiences. Turfgrass®’s expertise has strengthened playing quality, turf resilience and operational excellence, ensuring firm, true and visually stunning surfaces that showcase Nicklaus’ design across the dramatic elevations of Beech, Sugar and Grandfather Mountains.
